Computer Vision Syndrome: Relief for Tired Eyes

5 July 2026

Screen work causes dryness, blur and headaches. Here is how to manage it.

Long hours on screens reduce your blink rate by more than half, leaving the eye surface dry and irritated. Add small text and glare and you get the cluster of symptoms known as computer vision syndrome.\n\nUse the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. Position the screen slightly below eye level and about an arm's length away. Reduce glare, increase text size, and blink deliberately.\n\nIf symptoms persist, you may need a mild prescription or lenses optimised for screen distance. Lubricating drops help, but a proper examination finds the cause.

Concerned about your vision?

An examination takes under an hour and can protect your sight for years.
